DIY Fabric Push Pins (So Easy!) {Delightfully Creative}

A few weeks ago, I shared the colorful framed cork board  I made for my niece. What is a handmade cork board without adorable handmade fabric push pins?! I first saw this idea several years ago on How About Orange. It is so easy to do and so much cuter than store-bought push-pins.

You will need:
  • Fabric Scraps
  • Silver Push Pins (I got mine at the Dollar Tree)
  • Glue (preferably hot)
  • Cover Button Kit, like this one from JoAnne's

Step 1-Cut your fabric scraps to size (this depends on the button size you use). It doesn't even have to be a perfect circle-check out out my wonky scrap here.

Step 2-Center the fabric scrap inside the white cover tool and secure by pushing button in slightly.

When even, push button down completely, which will fold the edges of the fabric in.

Step 3-Place the silver button back in BACKWARDS. To illustrate, this is forwards (if you were trying to make an actual button):

This is what it looks like backwards:

You can skip this step if you want to take the time to rip out the metal fastener, but I found it a pain in the butt, so I just put it in backwards. If you put it in forwards, you will not be able to attach the tack to the back!

Push the silver backing down firmly with the blue push tool. The tool should go all the way down into the white cover tool.

Step 4: Pop out your newly covered "button" and glue the tack to the back.

And that's it!
