Fabric flowers are the perfect accent. I love the whimsical look of this flower. This flower was designed by Jennifer from The Life of Jennifer Dawn. She has a wonderful tutorial on how to sew this type of flower, which is good if you're going to put them on wearable accessories. Sewing makes them lighter and sturdier.
Here is how I made the flower without sewing:

Here's how to make one with no sewing required. All you need is:
- Scrap Fabric-cut into about 7 circles, depending on what size your flower will be (circles do not have to be perfect, especially for a shabby look)
- Hot glue gun
- Button
One circle should be used as the base.
First, take a circle and fold it in half.
Next, Fold right side into the middle of the front of the half-circle. Dab a little hot glue in the lower corner and press down to secure.
Then, fold left side to the middle of the back f the half circle, making a triangle. Secure with a dab of hot glue in the lower corner.
Glue the triangle petal to the base circle, with the small tip in the middle of the circle. It takes just a little dab of glue, as close to the bottom as you can get (so the wide ends flare out).
Repeat for each petal until base circle is covered.
Attach button to center. You can glue it. I sewed mine because of the type of button I used.
These take about 15 minutes to make and they are so cute on so many things-bracelets, photo frames, headbands, brooches, to name a few.

ReplyDeleteAdorable is right, I love them, and no sew is a good thing. I also really like the fabric you choose so very pretty. I'll be making a few of these! My fingers are crossed you'll share with Sunday's Best tonight - too darn pretty not too!
