Author: Lloyd Alexander
Genre: Juvenile fiction, fantasy
The Recipe: Eilonwy is not happy about being sent away from Caer Dallben to be educated as a proper lady and princess. Her rebelliousness gets the best of her when she is kidnapped by the evil Achren and put under a powerful spell. As Taran's feelings for Eilonwy begin to grow, he and his friends must find where the princess is hidden and rescue her from the most powerful enchantress in Prydain.
The Frosting and Sprinkles: Ah, the classic fairytale where the princess must be rescued! I can't deny that I love it. Of course, Eilonwy is not your classic princess. She is adventurous, strong-willed, smart and powerful-love that too!
This is probably my favorite of the series. Of course, the romantic in me loves the budding romance, but I found this book more engaging, adventurous and more of a page-turner than the others.
Also, I love redemptive themes and there's a shocking beginning to one's redemption in this novel.
The Hair That Fell In the Batter: None.
My Rating:
5 Out of 5 Cupcakes!

This is probably my second favorite. I really like The High King. All three of the final ones are close together in my estimation.
